Powerwashing our fence

I often think about doing certain construction or repair operations, from an economic viewpoint. Perhaps it's not worth my doing a repair, and I should outsource it instead. Often, I do it myself regardless. :)

My wife and I built this huge fence project. It took 4 months, during a long, hot summer. It is gorgeous, and one-of-a-kind. No way it would have turned out so well if we outsourced it.

Cambridge weather viciously attacks wood. Periodically, the fence needs a powerwash, and then a touch up with Penofin, which is simply amazing. The powerwashing step can't be outsourced. If you put the nozzle too close, then you remove mildew, but strip some wood. If the nozzle is too far, then the surface won't get clean enough. Different boards need different levels of power. Some boards need to have some wood stripped.

Here you can see some of the operation in progress.

Here is a quick pan of the "after" stage for some parts.

I'm an applied-math-research Ph.D. and serial startup founder. I am a recognized computer security expert, fortunate to join the ranks of many, great CTO's. I've founded and seed-funded multiple, successful, VC-backed companies. I'm still at it!

My wonderful wife and I moved from New England to near the Portland Oregon area. We LOVE the Pacific Northwest, and we've been here a few years now. We have an adorable baby girl, Vivi.

People here are nice and smile a lot. Vegetables are insanely delicious. Driving is not like Mad Max.

This blog is very Vivi-centric. Our family just can't resist. :) Also, there are some stupid hacking and geek tricks.
