"How did you go bankrupt?"
"Two ways. Gradually, then suddenly."
– Ernest Hemingway, The Sun Also Rises
Is this the Todd Brennan you are looking for?
If you see me with my cute daughter, she looks like this:
If you see me on the courts, I look like this:
Do you want to contact me?
What am I doing these days?
Mostly, I am minor support staff for Operation: Princess Vivi!
Eva does triple the normally-extreme work of mothering. This allows me to manage our empire and volunteer coach too. My latest company is creating a new kind of WiFi router...but we are stealthy now...shhhhh :)
We are back home in the Pacific NW, playing lots of badminton. We will take some short trips to the East coast to see family and friends.
We were visiting my inlaws in Hong Kong. While here, we took detours to Taipei and Tokyo.
Going further back…
Well, in 2013 we had an AMAZING honeymoon trip! We had a macbook air disaster, and lost some edits. Blogs will be delayed or abandoned as a result.
I was in the northeast USA, fixing various things which blew up while I was away. This took a few months!
Believe it or not, I missed home-cooked food and athletic training while traveling. I do not like exercising irregularly (and getting fat). :) I also miss work and hacking. So it's great to be back too!
We have finally moved to the Pacific Northwest, Portland OR area. Ahhhhh, so nice!

How am I feeling?
I am very fit, healthy, uninjured, but carrying an extra 20 pounds I'd like to lose.
How about 2014?
I was not sick in 2014 except for a long, 2-month period, where my wife and I just passed various flu colds back and forth. Playing with kids didn't help. Totally worth it. My wife is studying baking like crazy. As the official baked-goods-test-monkey, I am gaining weight and working out double, just to keep from turning into Jabba The Hut. My badminton is back and my shot selection has never been better. I am fit. My wife and I pretty much beat everybody, all the time.
Total Days Sick 2014: 25+
How about 2013?
I got sick again in Taipei Taiwan. It is not their fault. Well, maybe if their night markets weren't so chock-full-o-delicious food carts, I would stand a chance. I am recovering in time for Tokyo.
Otherwise, I am happy and healthy! My second-degree leg burn is healed now, and I'm slowly remembering how to play badminton. I have lots of extra weight from the travel and fun, but I'm otherwise strong and fit.
Total Days Sick 2013: 5 (how it happened)
Plus 1 sick day from car travel.
Photos?
Check out my blog for running photos and some commentary. Note, I can get a week behind on postings, so "old" entries might show up after "new" entries. Poke around. Also, we recently had Adobe Lightroom destroy about a month's worth of edits and organization...so please be patient...
This blogging platform destroys my gorgeous photo colors! :( That's a total FAIL. However, the photo buttons below have the pictures with gorgeous, unmangled colors, for the win! That's where I'd go for pretty pics and tasty-looking food!

What gear am I carrying right now?
Usually I only carry a single camera: Fuji XE-2 camera, with the remarkable 18mm-55mm f2.8-4.0 kit lens. I also carry the nice 35mm f1.4 lens too. This system ROCKS! Over 90% of my pics are from this camera. It is tiny and light. The (auto) white balance and color are simply stunning at almost any reasonable ISO (up to 1600, no problem). You can easily do an entire trip with only this setup!
Setup for temples, boat rides, biking in the (Vietnam) countryside, or safari is a two camera system, so I can switch quickly. Primary is a Canon 5D mk3 with a 70mm-200mm f2.8 lens for detail, people, and HDR compositions. Sometimes I use a 1.4x or 2x extender with the big white Canon lens. Also, sometimes I use the 24mm-105mm f4 lens instead. I make the decision before I leave for the day. Secondary is Fuji XE-1 with a 18mm-55mm lens (about 28mm-80mm equivalent) for wide angle, food, low light, and interesting color compositions.
